The
"Make Em' & Break Em' Hour" Thursday nights on 99.9 KAUS
is an hour long show featuring a recap of the previous week's
songs charted on Music Row's weekly chart, plus the current
week's songs. This program also features co-hosting artists
or artist's call-in interviews. Thursdays 7:00-8:00pm
A
reporting station has to meet certain requirements to become
a charting station. Music Row requires 99.9 KAUS to broadcast
live, local programming for at least 12 hours a day to continue
to be a charting station. We must have a current play list
of at least 35 songs or a maximum of 70 (KAUS has 55). I addition
we must be able to make programming decisions at the local
level and be willing to take promotion calls (promoters call
trying to get an artists song on-air and charted). Last but
not least KAUS must report projected spins (plays) each week
to Music Row.

99.9
KAUS has been broadcasting Country Music since 1979, and was
the first country station in southern Minnesota. At the start
KAUS was a mix of Classic Country and New Releases. Deregulation
in radio during the 80's made it easy for other stations to
come on line. Several country stations entered the market
since. 99.9 KAUS is still the leader in the Country Music
format becoming a reporting station for Music Row in December
of 2006 (only a limited number of stations are able to become
a charting station). KAUS continues to not only play the newest
releases out of Nashville from established and independent
artists, as well as the Country Classics, listeners continue
to request. The other stations continue to just give listeners
only the top 30 hits over and over. A better variety of country
music has always been found on 99.9 KAUS!
